The winners of this year’s awards were announced online via YouTube video on October 17, 2021.

• Adult Fantasy: TJ Klune, The House in the Cerulean Sea (Tor)
• Children's Fantasy: T. Kingfisher, A Wizard’s Guide to Defensive Baking (Argyll)
• Inklings Studies: John M. Bowers, Tolkien’s Lost Chaucer (Oxford UP, 2019)
• Myth and Fantasy Studies: Anna Vaninskaya, Fantasies of Time and Death: Dunsany, Eddison, Tolkien (Palgrave, 2020)

The Alexei Kondratiev Award for best student paper presented at Mythcon was awarded earlier, during the 2021 Virtual Halfling Mythcon, to Sophia Parrila for “All Worthy Things: The Personhood of Nature in J. R. R. Tolkien’s Legendarium”.
